Origins Forums
The Origins Initiative invites local, national, and international guest speakers who present their topical, origins-related research at the Wednesday afternoon Forums during the academic year. The scientific talks consist of a 45-50 minute PowerPoint lecture followed by 10-15 minutes of Q&A. Recent speakers have included Roger Summons (MIT), Donna Blackmond (Scripps Research Institute), and John Sutherland (Medical Research Council Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Cambridge, UK).
Chalk Talks
The Thursday morning Chalk Talks, held during the academic year, focus on the research of Origins graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and Origins faculty members. Using only the blackboard and chalk to spotlight research results, this more informal gathering offers speakers the opportunity to update the Origins community on their current research findings.
